Making a submission on SAC Preliminary recommendations
Background
The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) publishes its recommendations in the Victorian newspapers advising the public of its deliberations and requesting comments on its Preliminary Recommendations.
The SAC accepts submissions on its recommendations up to the close of business on the date indicated in the advertisement. Submissions can support or reject a Preliminary Recommendation.
Making a submission
To make a submission, interested parties should address the information given in the ‘Evidence that criteria are satisfied ’ section of the relevant Preliminary Recommendation Report. Submitters can either just say they support the recommendations or, if they reject any item, should provide evidence showing that the criteria stated in the relevant Preliminary Recommendation Report have not been met.
Note that the SAC only considers nature conservation issues. Social and economic issues are not part of the Committee’s charter. These issues are addressed in the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Action Statement which is compiled by the Department of Sustainability and Environment should an item be listed under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act.
Note also that there is no public comment period on Final Recommendations.
